Course Description

A strategic challenge course with scenic beauty

Nestled in the rolling hills of Mizunami City, Gifu Prefecture, Hananoki Golf Club is a nature-rich course that opened in 1990. Designed by renowned Japanese golf course architect Kawata Taizo, the course masterfully blends strategic challenge with scenic beauty, offering golfers a fulfilling experience throughout the changing seasons.

The course features wide fairways and moderate elevation changes, making it accessible and enjoyable for players ranging from beginners to intermediates. The 18th hole, in particular, offers a stunning view from the clubhouse and provides a memorable finish—often regarded as the club’s signature hole. Spanning 7,018 yards, the course layout leverages this terrain to deliver a highly strategic experience across all 18 holes. Each hole has its own distinct character and challenge, ensuring that every round feels fresh and engaging. This design concept sparks the golfer’s competitive spirit time and again, offering renewed motivation and excitement with each play. Thanks to its thoughtful integration of the natural landscape and its unique, varied hole designs, Hananoki Golf Club remains endlessly captivating. It is highly esteemed not only by amateur golfers but also by numerous professional golfers who have competed in tournaments held on its grounds. The course rating is 74.0 (for the Black tees), reflecting its strategic design and challenge.

Practice facilities are well-equipped, including a 240-yard driving range. The club uses remote-controlled riding carts, and during summer months, “cool carts” with fans and mist systems ensure a comfortable round. The clubhouse is clean and spacious, and its restaurant serves seasonal dishes crafted with care, adding a touch of elegance to the post-round experience.

Popular lunch menu items include deep-fried shrimp, coarse-ground hamburg steak, kishimen noodles with pressed conger eel sushi, and a variety of Japanese-Western fusion dishes. The spicy tantanmen noodles receive particularly high praise in reviews for their authentic flavor. Desserts such as apple pie, anmitsu (a traditional Japanese sweet), and chilled cheesecake round out the offerings.

Operated under the “GRAND PGM” brand of Pacific Golf Management (PGM), the club is known for its excellent hospitality and course maintenance. It consistently receives high ratings on golf platforms like Rakuten GORA and GDO, praised for its scenic layout, satisfying meals, and attentive staff.

Hananoki Golf Club is more than just a place to play—it’s a destination where nature, sport, and culinary delight come together. Each visit offers new discoveries and lasting memories, making it a truly special experience for every golfer.

Visitors also praise the well‑maintained course, friendly staff, excellent clubhouse facilities, and delicious food. One player described the experience as smooth and stress‑free, likening the clubhouse amenities to those of a hotel.
