Tourist Attractions to Visit
1) Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium
Located on the Motobu Peninsula within the expansive Ocean Expo Park, Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium is one of the world's premier aquariums, featuring around 720–780 marine species, including whale sharks and manta rays.
2) Yachimun no Sato in Yomitan Village
In the Okinawan dialect, “yachimun” means ceramics, known for their earthy, rustic texture and charming, often whimsical designs. Located in Yomitan Village (Yomitan-son), this pottery village—Yachimun no Sato—is a revered center for Okinawan pottery, housing approximately 19 uniquely styled workshops. Visitors are invited to leisurely stroll among the studios in search of everything from shiisaa—Okinawa’s iconic lion-dog guardians—to their perfect ceramic pieces. A standout feature of the area is the striking climbing kiln (noborigama) with its red-tiled roof, a symbol of the village.
