Hosted USLPGA "TOTO JAPAN CLASSIC" Course
Old Orchard Golf Club is a full-scale championship course designed by Jim Fazio, known for its balance of aesthetics, strategy, and top-tier facilities. It caters to mid-to-advanced players while remaining accessible for beginners. With well-maintained practice grounds and a scenic yet thoughtful course layout, it offers a satisfying golf experience. Located just about 30 minutes from Mito City, it is also highly convenient for travelers.
This course offers a well-balanced combination of water hazards, bunkers, trees, and undulating terrain, resulting in a highly strategic layout. The hilly landscape provides moderate undulations, making tee shots especially strategic. The positioning of your shots changes how the hazards affect your approach to the pin, thereby altering the difficulty of your next shot. Including its scenic design, the course can be considered a quintessential example of the American-style layout.
When you step onto the teeing ground, the strategically placed hazards and bunkers are clearly visible, allowing you to visualize your approach. If you play a thoughtful game and place your ball in the right spot on the fairway, it will naturally lead to your next great shot. Every round at Old Orchard offers just the right amount of tension and brings new discoveries — that is the essence of this course.
On the front nine, distance is important to some extent, but even more crucial is finding your own strategic route. The back nine features many holes that demand shot accuracy. The signature hole is the par-4 16th, a dogleg along a pond. With various choices of clubs for the tee shot and second shot, there are multiple routes to attack the hole.
