While the overall layout is relatively flat, subtle undulations throughout the fairways create varying shot angles and challenges, making course management a key factor in scoring. The front nine is characterized by tree-lined fairways that demand accuracy, while the back nine incorporates ponds and creeks that require thoughtful shot selection and strategic decision-making.

Gozensui Golf Club is renowned for maintaining some of the finest course conditions in Hokkaido. The greens are planted with Bentgrass (Penncross), while Kentucky Bluegrass is used throughout the fairways and rough. A two-green system is employed seasonally to ensure optimal playing conditions.

Even during periods of extreme summer heat or limited rainfall, the course consistently maintains excellent turf quality. Its fairways are often described as being "as smooth as a carpet." The club has also demonstrated its commitment to innovation in turf management by becoming the first golf course in Japan to introduce the new grass variety known as "777."
