Enjoy a strategic golfing experience surrounded by pristine forests and crystal-clear streams
Nestled within the magnificent natural landscape of Hokkaido, Gozensui Golf Club is a championship-caliber course that combines the beauty of pristine forests and crystal-clear streams with a highly strategic layout.
One of the course's defining characteristics is its philosophy of preserving the area's natural terrain and mature trees as much as possible. While the overall layout is relatively flat, subtle undulations throughout the fairways create varying shot angles and challenges, making course management a key factor in scoring. The front nine is characterized by tree-lined fairways that demand accuracy, while the back nine incorporates ponds and creeks that require thoughtful shot selection and strategic decision-making.
Surrounded by pristine forests and clear waterways, the course offers golfers the opportunity to experience Hokkaido's unique natural environment. Players may even encounter local wildlife such as Ezo deer and Hokkaido red foxes, adding to the charm of a round played amidst the changing seasons.
Gozensui Golf Club is renowned for maintaining some of the finest course conditions in Hokkaido. The greens are planted with Bentgrass (Penncross), while Kentucky Bluegrass is used throughout the fairways and rough. A two-green system is employed seasonally to ensure optimal playing conditions.
Even during periods of extreme summer heat or limited rainfall, the course consistently maintains excellent turf quality. Its fairways are often described as being "as smooth as a carpet." The club has also demonstrated its commitment to innovation in turf management by becoming the first golf course in Japan to introduce the new grass variety known as "777."
It also has earned recognition as a venue for competitive golf and has hosted prestigious events, including:
These events reflect the course's championship-level quality, outstanding conditioning, and strategic design capable of meeting professional tournament standards.
The clubhouse restaurant showcases the flavors of Hokkaido through a menu featuring locally sourced ingredients. Popular dishes include Hokkaido-brand pork rice bowls and Napolitan pasta topped with large fried shrimp. Guests can also enjoy fresh lamb jingisukan and venison jingisukan on the outdoor terrace. Available from mid-May through mid-September, the terrace dining experience is particularly popular among visitors seeking an authentic taste of Hokkaido.
