Traditional former tournament course 1,000 meters above sea level at the foot of Mt.Fuji
Fuji Classic is a world-class, 18-hole masterpiece designed by the renowned architect Desmond Muirhead. Inspired by the famous Japanese ukiyo-e artist Katsushika Hokusai and his iconic series Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji, each hole reflects one of Hokusai’s artworks, resulting in a uniquely beautiful and artistic layout.
Known as one of the closest golf courses to Mt. Fuji, Fuji Classic offers breathtaking views of the World Heritage site from every hole.
The course has an open feel and resembles a links-style layout, yet it sits at an elevation of 1,200 meters—making summer rounds especially pleasant. However, please note that the course is closed during the winter season, from mid-January to mid-March.
The course stretches across the foothills of Mt. Fuji at an elevation of 1,200 meters. It features a flat layout with gently undulating fairways, evoking the feel of a links-style course. Strategically placed mounds, ponds, and bunkers enhance the challenge and demand thoughtful play.
Typical of highland terrain, swirling winds often create either tailwinds or headwinds on each hole, adding another layer of complexity. The greens are generally large and feature significant undulation, so simply reaching the green doesn’t guarantee safety. When putting, players must consider the grain direction flowing from Mt. Fuji—otherwise, unexpected outcomes may occur.
Every hole offers a majestic view of Mt. Fuji, allowing golfers to either take on the natural terrain with strategic precision or simply enjoy a luxurious round in a resort-like atmosphere. Whether you choose to play with bold ambition or in a relaxed, friendly spirit, this course promises an unparalleled golfing experience for all who visit.
Each hole’s hazards reflect the symbolic and artistic touch of Desmond Muirhead, making this a truly signature course.
Fuji Classic is longer than most courses in Japan, with the black tees presenting a challenging 7,179-yard layout. In addition, four other tee boxes are available to accommodate players of all skill levels, ensuring an enjoyable round for everyone. The standard play style includes the use of carts, and caddies can be arranged upon request.
