A Premier Urban Championship Course with LPGA Heritage
Located in Daito City, Osaka Prefecture, Hanna Golf Club has been cherished by golfers since its opening in 1974 as one of the premier championship courses in the Kansai region. Despite being only about 30 minutes by car from both central Osaka and Nara, the course offers a strategic layout that takes full advantage of the surrounding natural hillside terrain.
The course was designed by Shunsuke Kato, one of Japan’s most renowned golf course architects. His design philosophy is evident throughout the course, with skillful use of elevation changes, doglegs, and demanding landing areas that require players to make precise and thoughtful decisions. The greens are known for their excellent year‑round condition, and their elevated shapes and subtle contours add to the challenge, offering a depth of strategy that goes far beyond simple distance.
Hanna Golf Club has hosted several LPGA-sanctioned tournaments, including the Osaka Women’s Open and the Japan–Korea Women’s Professional Golf Team Match, further cementing its reputation as a true championship venue. A major renovation in 2013 enhanced both the strategic elements and the visual beauty of the course.
Notable signature holes include the demanding OUT No. 5, which requires both distance and accuracy; IN No. 17, where the tee shot carries significant pressure; and OUT No. 7, a par 3 where wind judgment can greatly influence the score. Each of these holes showcases the unique character and challenge of the course.
The clubhouse features a stately, refined atmosphere and is highly regarded by visitors. A variety of classic Japanese and Western dishes are available, and one of the club’s greatest attractions is the natural hot spring “Tatsuma Onsen,” sourced from 1,500 meters underground—perfect for relaxing after a round. While the course does not have its own driving range, the nearby PXG Osaka Driving Range (150 bays, 300 yards), located just one minute away by car, provides an excellent practice environment before play.
