Course Description

An 18-chapter Early American story, where every player finds their own moments of inspiration

Hokkaido Brooks Country Club is a hilly golf course set amid the magnificent natural landscape of Tomakomai.

The Out Course is surrounded by large coniferous trees and characterized by gentle undulations that reflect the area’s natural terrain. Many holes are strategically designed, with out-of-bounds lines set relatively close to the fairways, demanding precision and careful shot-making throughout.

In contrast, the In Course offers a completely different atmosphere from the wooded, hilly Out Course. It opens up into a broad, expansive layout where visibility is excellent. The holes extend through the Otarumappu wetland, allowing players to enjoy dynamic play within a sweeping, majestic landscape. This contrast between the front and back nines is one of the course’s most distinctive appeals.

Spanning approximately 1.65 million square meters, the course preserves rich greenery and natural undulations across its vast grounds. The 18 holes are carefully routed to follow the existing terrain, and the fairways themselves incorporate the natural contours of the land. This creates a layout that balances scenic beauty with the fundamental enjoyment of golf.

The design philosophy is understated and classical, avoiding artificial or overly dramatic features, while instead emphasizing elegance and a sense of tradition. The course is regarded as one that conveys dignity and character through its restrained yet thoughtful design.

It is also said to embody a philosophy comparable to that of renowned American championship courses, with a strong emphasis on handcrafted course shaping. The design and supervision by E. Snead and Taizo Kawata are reflected throughout the layout, resulting in a course that harmonizes beauty and strategy while continuously engaging players’ competitive spirit.

In terms of dining, the clubhouse restaurant offers a selection of dishes that highlight Hokkaido’s local ingredients. Popular items include jingisukan (grilled lamb), stone-pot noodle dishes, and katsu set meals. The portions are generous, and the meals are warm and satisfying, making the restaurant well-regarded as a casual yet fulfilling dining experience for golfers.

The course presents a well-balanced blend of natural grandeur, strategically demanding course design, and regionally inspired cuisine, creating a highly complete and memorable golf experience.
