A magnificent hillside course set against endlessly stretching, vibrant rolling hills
Conveniently located just 15–20 minutes from New Chitose Airport, Great Sapporo Country Club offers the perfect combination of accessibility, spectacular scenery, and enjoyable championship golf. Overlooking the vast Ishikari Plain, this magnificent hill course features expansive fairways, strategic design elements, and the natural grandeur of Hokkaido, creating an unforgettable golfing experience.
Set amid the breathtaking landscape of Chitose, Hokkaido, the club is an 18-hole, par-72 course that enjoys panoramic views of Mt. Eniwa and Mt. Tarumae. Designed to make full use of the area's rolling terrain, the course showcases wide, generous fairways that encourage confident, free-flowing play while providing a rewarding challenge for golfers of all skill levels.
Each of the 18 holes possesses its own unique character, ensuring a diverse and engaging round. The opening hole is a welcoming par 5 that invites an aggressive tee shot, while strategically placed ponds, ravines, and natural undulations add both excitement and variety throughout the course. One of its most distinctive features is the 6th hole, where a teeing ground stretching more than 50 meters from left to right creates dramatically different playing strategies depending on the tee marker position.
With its generous length, forgiving fairways, and receptive greens, the course appeals equally to beginners and experienced single-digit handicappers. Players can enjoy the thrill of powerful shot-making while appreciating the strategic demands of a thoughtfully designed layout, all surrounded by some of Hokkaido’s most impressive scenery.
After the round, golfers can relax in the clubhouse restaurant, which serves a selection of popular Japanese and Hokkaido-inspired dishes. Favorites include spicy Tan Tan noodles, traditional set meals featuring local flavors, curry rice, and a variety of noodle specialties. Known for its hearty portions and reasonable prices, the restaurant is a popular choice among both members and visitors.
